Foodbank Partnerships

Trialling joined-up local support where food and fuel costs are both a challenge.

What this partnership is about

This work brings together local foodbanks and energy and benefits support to better reach people who are already under financial pressure.

The partnership is currently being trialled with Inverurie Community Partnership and Catalyst Transform, who provide support directly to people experiencing food insecurity.

How the partnership works

Foodbank teams provide simple information to their users about available energy support.

Support is available to help people understand their situation, including benefits and household finances.

Practical energy advice can be provided for those struggling with gas or electricity costs.

In some cases, short-term energy top-ups may be arranged where there is an immediate need.

Why this matters

Food and fuel costs often place pressure on households at the same time. People accessing foodbanks may also be struggling to keep up with energy costs or to keep their home warm.

Working through trusted local partners helps make support easier to access and more responsive to what people need in the moment.

Leaflets used in this project were funded by Granite Heart, a charity based in Westhill. We are grateful for their support.

This is a local pilot project delivered in partnership with community organisations.
