📘 Volunteer Guide & Resources

Thanks for supporting Fortis Advisory CIC! This guide will help you understand your role, how to find organisations, and how to submit them properly. It’s simple, impactful, and flexible. Let’s go! 🙌

✅ 1. What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll help us build our referral network by logging organisations that support people experiencing financial hardship or vulnerabilities. These could be:
  • Charities
  • Community organisations
  • Advice agencies
  • Foodbanks, support groups, and more

📍 2. Stick to Your Region (When You Can)

Please focus on the region(s) you selected when registering. If you run out of relevant organisations in that area, feel free to explore others.

💡 3. Use Your Backup Email Address (Here’s Why)

To protect the long-term reputation of Fortis Advisory CIC’s email system, we don’t send mass emails from our own address. If hundreds of emails go out from our domain in a short time, email providers (like Gmail and Outlook) may start flagging our messages as spam — which would hurt our ability to help people in future campaigns. That’s why we ask you to:
  • Send emails from a personal backup email account in your name (such as a second Gmail address)
  • You can set one up just for this purpose, or use an existing one you don’t use often (e.g. for receipts)
  • This keeps Fortis’ systems protected while still letting you help spread the word ❤️

🏢 4. What Kind of Organisations Should You Submit?

Look for organisations that likely support people with financial hardship, benefits issues, or vulnerabilities:
  • Housing or homelessness charities
  • Mental health support groups
  • Advice centres or community hubs
  • CICs, foodbanks, local helplines

✍️ 5. How to Fill Out the Form

The form no longer sends the email — instead, it logs which email you’ve already sent from your own backup email account. Only two fields are required:
  • Organisation Name (or the individual’s name if not part of an org)
  • Email Address
You’ll also paste the email message you sent into the big text box. This helps us keep track and avoids duplicate follow-ups. The more info you include, the better — but don’t worry if you leave some fields blank.
